- As Vice-Chair of the Board, helped build cooperation in way trustees work together 

 

- Intensive consultation and public engagement with all River Zone schools, parents and community, resulting in concrete action at the Board 

 

- Reinstatement of previous Board cuts to Special Education and English as a Second Language for recent immigrants 

 

- Accessed capital spending of over 3 million dollars to refurbish and rejuvenate Carleton Heights Public School 

 

- Accessed capital spending of 1.5 million dollars to create new space for full day kindergarten at Bayview Public School 

 

- Accessed capital spending of over 1 million dollars to refurbish W.E. Gowling Public School 

 

- Accessed Renewal and School Improvement funding of over 2.5 million dollars for Brookfield High School, General Vanier Public School,  Fielding Drive Public School and Clifford Bowey Public School  

 

- Chair of Audit Committee, with external representation – balanced budgets every year;  increased transparency and accountability 

 

- Chair of Education Committee; discussion of new and emerging education issues; drew in more parent involvement 

 

 - Establishment of new International Program at Brookfield High School 

 

- Free bus transportation for many secondary school students for the first time 

 

- Ontario EQAO tests show improvement in Grade 3 and 6 Reading and Writing and Grade 9 Mathematics during past four-year trustee term 

 

- Helped develop procedures for involvement of parent volunteers for extra curricular activities in all public schools 

 

- Provided experienced leadership in development and implementation of OCDSB Strategic Plan, with its focus on student achievement and well being 

 

- Achieved accelerated introduction of Early French Immersion at W.E. Gowling Public School, with full agreement from surrounding communities 

 

- Achieved annual increases in financial support to students with Special Needs and behavioural issues, and hiring of new in-school and itinerant emergency Educational Assistants 

 

- Member of selection and review committee for Director of Education and Superintendents of Instruction 

 

- Worked carefully to integrate role of existing non-profit child care operations at Carleton Heights and St. Elias Centre into expanded care-giving activities of the OCDSB 

 

- Represented OCDSB as Voting Director on the Ontario Public School Boards Association
